New Delhi, June 18: Late at night, unknown assailants fired two rounds outside a home in the C-Block area of Shahbad Dairy, Outer North Delhi, causing widespread panic. According to sources, the targeted house is linked to a family member named Sunny, who was murdered nearly two years ago.
Reports indicate that the victim’s family has connections to illegal alcohol trade. Family members believe the shooting was intended to intimidate them ahead of an upcoming court appearance related to the case.
Upon receiving news of the incident, local police, crime teams, and senior officials arrived at the scene. Authorities are currently recording statements from the victim’s family and reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras. The investigation is ongoing.
At this time, police are examining whether the shooting is connected to old rivalries or an attempt to influence testimony. They are exploring every angle based on the family’s statements and CCTV evidence.
In a related incident, another shooting occurred on Thursday in Godda district, Jharkhand. Attackers on a motorcycle fired at Panchayat head Anupam Bhagat, also known as Laddoo, who narrowly escaped injury. Following the attack, tensions rose in the area, prompting a large gathering of villagers at the Podaiyahat police station to demand the arrest of the assailants.
According to police, Bhagat was returning from the local State Bank branch when he was shot at near the main market. Eyewitnesses reported that two rounds were fired before the attackers fled the scene.
Local residents noted that Anupam Bhagat was a key witness in the high-profile Shailendra Bhagat murder case from 2024 and had recently testified in court regarding the matter. However, police have not yet officially linked the shooting to any specific case, stating that they are investigating all possible angles.
