Mumbai, June 15: Senior Congress leader and MLC Bhai Jagatap has criticized the government regarding the donation and offering controversy at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He emphasized that a fair investigation is essential and that it is the government’s responsibility to maintain the trust of devotees.
In an interview with a news agency, Jagatap stated, “The government should be ashamed regarding the Ram Temple issue. You capitalized on the Ram Temple movement for political gain, which brought you to power, yet irregularities are occurring at the temple today. It seems you do not grasp the seriousness of the situation.”
He urged the government to investigate all temples to uncover the truth in other places as well. Currently, only one temple has been mentioned, but it appears that similar issues may exist in many others. Such incidents are damaging the country’s reputation and eroding public trust. The government must identify those responsible for these actions.
Bhai Jagatap noted that at the very least, those who visit the temple and make donations should be able to trust that their contributions are secure. Whether someone donates five rupees or five hundred, it is based on trust, which the government is failing to uphold.
In response to senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot’s statement that if Indira Gandhi were alive today, she would have banned the BJP, Jagatap remarked that the media does not fully cover such statements. “We should understand the complete context before taking action,” he added.
He stated that BJP leaders should feel ashamed for creating a divisive atmosphere in the country based on Hindu-Muslim tensions. They lack substantial issues to address, which has led to the current state of affairs in the nation.
