Eight Arrested in Gang Rape Case in Ranchi, Including a Minor

Ranchi, June 7: In a swift response to a gang rape incident in the Mandar police station area of Ranchi, authorities have arrested eight suspects. A minor has also been taken into custody in connection with the case.

DSP Ram Narayan Chaudhary from Khunti reported that upon receiving the complaint, a special team was formed. They conducted raids at various locations from late Saturday night into Sunday, leading to the arrests. The police are still searching for other potential suspects.

According to the victim’s statement, she had been in a live-in relationship with a young man for nearly two years. He had moved to Kerala for work about a month and a half ago, leaving her at his residence.

The complaint alleges that on Friday evening, several young men forcibly took her to a secluded area where they gang-raped her. The victim claims she was held captive throughout the night and was released on Saturday morning. She then returned home and informed her family about the incident.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, a case has been registered at the Mandar police station. During the investigation, police discovered that the victim’s live-in partner in Kerala is also under scrutiny. Authorities suspect he may have incited local youths to commit the crime.

Officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing, with digital evidence, call detail records, and other technical proofs being analyzed. Police indicated that interrogating the arrested suspects has revealed potential involvement of additional individuals, and raids are continuing to apprehend them.
