The Delhi Pro Volleyball League (DPVL) has been officially launched with the collaboration of the Delhi Volleyball Association and the Delhi Olympic Association. Former national volleyball players Neeti Rawat and Jasoda Gulia announced the league, which will feature six franchises. Players from Delhi and across India will participate, with selections to be made through open trials in the coming months.
Kuldeep Vats, President of the Delhi Olympic Association and Joint Secretary of the Volleyball Federation of India, was present at the event. He expressed full support for the league, highlighting its importance in providing a professional platform for players.
Kuldeep Vats said, “Delhi has always produced excellent volleyball talent. The Delhi Pro Volleyball League is a timely and necessary initiative that will offer players a professional pathway and strengthen the sport at both state and national levels.”
Sudhir Vats, President of the Delhi Volleyball Association, added, “This league will play a key role in recognising, nurturing, and retaining volleyball talent from Delhi. With a transparent structure and proper opportunities, DPVL can set a benchmark for state-level professional leagues in India.”
Co-founder Jasoda Gulia shared the league’s long-term vision, stating, “Our goal is to establish a professionally governed league that provides stability and significance to players, franchises, and partners. The league is not just about hosting matches but about creating a sustainable sporting ecosystem where volleyball talent can grow, earn, and compete globally.”
Neeti Rawat, also a co-founder, emphasised the need for a professional platform. “There is immense volleyball talent in Delhi, but players often lack a professional stage. DPVL aims to provide athletes with exposure, recognition, and a clear route to higher-level competition,” she said.
During the event, Delhi’s junior boys and girls teams were honoured. The junior boys’ team recently finished as runners-up in the National Championship, underscoring the need for leagues like DPVL to offer young players the right platform to advance their careers.
