New Delhi, June 22: As negotiations between the United States and Iran continue in Switzerland, President Donald Trump has not backed down from issuing threats.
On Sunday, Trump reiterated his warning of potential military action against Iran. He accused Iran of funding militant groups in Lebanon and demanded that they cease such activities. Trump stated that failure to comply would result in a strong response from the United States.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Iran must immediately stop funding those groups in Lebanon that are causing trouble. If Iran does not comply, we will strike back harder than we did last week.”
The next round of talks between the U.S. and Iran is scheduled for Sunday evening. A delegation from Iran arrived in Switzerland late Saturday to engage in discussions with the U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance also arrived in Switzerland on Sunday for the negotiations.
Joining the talks as a mediator is Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who has also arrived with a Pakistani delegation. The Swiss Foreign Ministry welcomed the Pakistani delegation, which included Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed his gratitude to President Trump for his visionary leadership, which he believes has made this meeting possible. He stated, “I think the discussions here will be very fruitful. I hope they will yield positive and beneficial results in the near future. I also want to thank the Vice President for his excellent leadership in leading the U.S. team.”
