Ranchi, June 22: Chota Nagpur Royals have clinched a spot in the semi-finals of the Jharkhand Premier League 2026. In the 23rd match of the tournament held on Sunday, they defeated Jamshedpur Steelers by a commanding 85 runs.
Batting first, Chota Nagpur posted an impressive total of 211 runs, losing 4 wickets in their 20 overs. The team received a strong start from Virat Singh and Nazim Siddiqui, who added 88 runs for the first wicket in just 8.5 overs. Siddiqui played a remarkable innings, scoring 54 runs off just 32 balls, including 10 fours and a six.
Shreshth Sagar contributed with 25 runs from 20 balls. However, Chandan struggled with the bat, returning to the pavilion after scoring just one run. Captain Virat continued his excellent form, scoring a brilliant 106 runs off 58 balls, with 7 fours and 6 sixes. For Jamshedpur, bowlers Harsh Rana, Aman Kumar, and Pratik Ranjan each took one wicket.
Chasing a daunting target of 212 runs, the entire Jamshedpur Steelers team was bowled out for just 126 runs. Harsh Rana was the top scorer for his team with 46 runs, while Shakti Singh added 22 runs. Chota Nagpur’s Rahul Rajak was exceptional with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 11 runs. Dipanshu and Durgesh also contributed with two wickets each.
In the second match of the day, Dhanbad Diamonds triumphed over Santhal Strikers by 9 wickets. Batting first, Dhanbad was all out for just 106 runs, with Ram Sharan scoring the highest at 32 runs and Vikas Vishal contributing 26 runs. Bowler Sanjeet Sharma was outstanding, taking 4 wickets for just 10 runs, while Anmol Raj also claimed 4 wickets.
Santhal Strikers chased down the target of 107 runs with ease, losing only one wicket in 11.5 overs. Kumar Suraj remained unbeaten with 53 runs off 34 balls, while Vibhoor Pandey also finished not out at 32 runs. The first semi-final will see Jamshedpur Steelers face off against the table-topping Koyalanchal Super Kings, while Chota Nagpur Royals will clash with Ranchi Titans.
