New Delhi, May 11: The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Delhi Police has successfully rescued two missing minor girls during separate operations. Officials highlighted this achievement as a testament to the police force’s commitment and vigilance towards child safety.
According to an official press release from the Delhi Police Crime Branch, the AHTU team conducted extensive search operations utilizing technical surveillance, field intelligence, and ground verification to locate the girls from different locations.
The Delhi Police stated, “These successful operations reflect the relentless dedication of the AHTU team, which is committed to rescuing children from unsafe situations.”
The first case involved a 16-year-old girl who had been missing since January 11. This case was registered at the Wazirabad police station, where multiple charges were filed. Authorities expressed serious concerns regarding the girl’s vulnerability due to her circumstances.
Under the supervision of ACP Suresh Kumar, a special team led by Inspector Mukesh Kumar initiated an investigation. During the inquiry, police discovered that the girl had fled home due to ongoing domestic disputes stemming from her father’s alcoholism. It was reported that she left without informing her family and was later found staying with her aunt.
Currently, the girl has been safely recovered and handed over to the local police station for further legal proceedings.
In another operation, the AHTU rescued a 15-year-old girl who had been missing since October 2, 2024. This case falls under the jurisdiction of the Budh Vihar police station. During questioning, the girl revealed that she had left home voluntarily after coming into contact with a boy.
Acting on a tip-off regarding her presence near Rithala village in Haiderpur, the police team successfully located her. She has since been transferred to the Budh Vihar police station for further legal action.
