Delhi BJP Chief Praises Firefighters, Urges Citizens to Stay Vigilant

New Delhi, June 15: Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra expressed concern on Sunday regarding the rising incidents of fires in the capital. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and support the brave efforts of the city’s firefighters.

Malhotra commended the firefighters who rescued a 75-year-old woman trapped on the second floor during a severe fire and gas cylinder explosions in Kalkaji.

He reported that a fire broke out early Sunday morning in a building in Kalkaji, causing damage to a neighboring structure. Fortunately, timely intervention by the fire brigade and coordinated relief efforts led by MCD Central Zone Chairperson Yogita Singh averted a major disaster.

Malhotra reiterated his praise for the firefighters who risked their lives to save the elderly woman during the blaze.

The Delhi BJP President emphasized that they do not wish to politicize such serious incidents. However, he found it unfortunate that local MLA Atishi Marlena, who had shed tears just five days earlier over the Hauz Rani incident outside Max Hospital, had not visited the site of this recent tragedy hours after it occurred.

He noted that the increased load on electrical appliances like coolers, ACs, and microwaves during both summer and winter leads to added pressure on old wiring, posing a serious safety risk.

Malhotra urged Delhi residents to stay alert regarding fire safety. He advised them to inspect the wiring in their homes, offices, shops, and restaurants, ensure regular servicing of AC units and car battery charging points, and turn off unnecessary electrical points when sleeping or leaving home.

His commendation of the firefighters comes at a time when Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta paid tribute to the victims of a devastating fire in Hauz Rani, Malviya Nagar, and the tragic building collapse in Saidulajab, announcing a compensation of 1 million rupees for each victim’s family.

She also honored the brave citizens, police officers, administrative officials, and rescue workers who risked their lives to save others, presenting them with certificates of appreciation and checks of 21,000 rupees.
