Investigation Launched After Woman Found Dead in Bengaluru Apartment

Bengaluru, June 15: The Priyadarshini Layout police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) following the death of a woman in her rented apartment. The woman was discovered deceased on June 13. The case was filed based on a complaint from her father, who alleges that she was murdered by a man she knew.

The deceased has been identified as Bhavani S. She had completed her B.Sc. degree and was working as a billing executive at a mobile phone store in Tigalarapalya. Bhavani lived alone in a rented apartment near Orchids School on G. Hosahalli Road.

Her father, Srinivas, reported that on the morning of June 13, his sister-in-law informed the family about an Instagram story featuring Bhavani with an unknown young man. When repeated calls to Bhavani went unanswered, the family contacted her employer’s wife to check on her.

Upon arrival, the woman found the apartment locked from the inside. After knocking on the door without a response, she alerted the police. By the time Bhavani’s family arrived, officers had already broken down the door and entered the apartment.

According to the complaint, Bhavani was found dead on the floor, while a man named Chandrashekar (also known as Chandan or Chandu) was unconscious but still breathing. The complaint states that a strong odor of a toxic substance was present throughout the apartment and on both individuals. Chandrashekar was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Bhavani’s father alleged that Chandrashekar was in a relationship with his daughter. He claimed that when he learned the family was preparing for her marriage, he threatened her. Bhavani had previously informed her family that Chandrashekar warned her against marrying anyone else, threatening dire consequences if she did.

The complainant further alleged that on the morning of June 13, Chandrashekar visited Bhavani’s home, strangled her to death, and then placed a toxic substance on her body, himself, and throughout the apartment to make it appear as if she had committed suicide, thereby concealing the murder.

Based on the complaint, the Priyadarshini Layout police registered the FIR on June 13 under sections 103(1) and 238 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and have initiated further investigation into the case.
