New Delhi, July 22: The Delhi Police have registered a total of 10 FIRs in connection with the violent clashes during the ‘Cockroach People’s Party’ (CJP) march towards Parliament. Authorities reported that these FIRs stem from various incidents and law-and-order issues that occurred during the protest. The investigations are currently ongoing.
According to police sources, four FIRs have been filed at the Parliament Street police station, while three were lodged at the CP police station. Additionally, one FIR each has been recorded at the Mandir Marg, Barakhamba Road, and Kartavya Path police stations. Notably, one FIR pertains to the unauthorized flying of a drone in the high-security area of New Delhi during the parliamentary session.
The Delhi Police also confirmed that an FIR has been filed regarding an attack on an RAF personnel. Viral videos show individuals assaulting the RAF officer, who was also targeted with stones and vandalism of the RAF vehicle.
These FIRs have been registered against unidentified individuals. Investigation teams are actively working to identify those responsible for the unrest. Reports indicate that over 250 videos are being scrutinized, including mobile phone recordings, CCTV footage, drone visuals, and footage from police body-worn cameras.
It is important to note that on Monday, thousands of protesters marched towards Parliament, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over paper leaks and irregularities in examinations. In their attempt to reach Parliament, located less than a kilometer from Jantar Mantar, protesters toppled barricades and clashed with security personnel.
The violent demonstration resulted in injuries to dozens of police officers, as well as several protesters.
