Eight Injured in Collision on Mumbai-Nashik Highway

Bhivandi, July 30: A serious accident occurred on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway early Thursday morning, injuring eight people, four of whom are in critical condition. All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.

Initial reports indicate that family members from Chalisgaon in Bhivandi were returning home after dropping a relative at Mumbai Airport. The relative was heading for Umrah. As the family was driving back, their cruiser collided with a stationary truck on the highway.

Witnesses reported that a truck was parked slightly ahead of the Bhivandi bypass. The driver of the cruiser lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a rear-end collision with the truck. The front of the cruiser was severely damaged in the accident.

Panic ensued following the crash, drawing a crowd of passersby who quickly helped extract the injured from the vehicle. Approximately ten people were in the cruiser, with eight sustaining injuries. Local police arrived shortly after the incident and, with the help of bystanders, transported all the injured to Indira Gandhi Hospital in Bhivandi. Due to the severity of their conditions, four individuals were referred to another hospital for further treatment.

The driver stated that he was returning from the airport to Chalisgaon when the accident occurred amid light rain. He mentioned losing control while attempting to overtake another vehicle, leading to the collision with the parked truck.

One injured woman recounted that they had gone to the airport to drop off her brother and were returning when the crash happened.
