Srinagar, July 30: Security forces have made a significant breakthrough in Jammu and Kashmir. During a search operation on Wednesday in Kulgam district, they recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition. Meanwhile, police in Shopian district seized assets worth over ₹18.76 lakh belonging to an alleged drug trafficker.
According to a police statement, the operation was conducted by Kulgam police, the 34th Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and the 18th Battalion of the CRPF in the orchards of Tantripoora-Sursanoo. The authorities reported that the recovery of these arms and ammunition is considered a major success, delivering a significant blow to the active terrorist network in the area.
The police indicated that the seizure thwarted the terrorists’ plans to use these weapons and ammunition to disrupt peace in the region.
In a separate operation, the Jammu and Kashmir police continued their crackdown on drug-related activities. They confiscated property valued at ₹18,76,665 from a suspected drug trafficker in Shopian. The seized assets include a residential house belonging to Nazir Ahmed Lone, son of Rishi Lone, a resident of Kathohallan.
Investigations revealed that this property was acquired through earnings from illegal drug trafficking. The seizure was part of an ongoing investigation linked to FIR number 27/2025 at the Keller police station. The operation was conducted in the presence of an authorized police team, an executive magistrate, and local officials to ensure compliance with legal procedures and maintain transparency.
The police stated that this action is part of their continuous efforts to dismantle the financial framework of drug trafficking, targeting properties allegedly acquired through illegal drug trade.
As part of their ongoing operations against drug trafficking and substance abuse, security forces are actively pursuing drug traffickers and dealers. This includes not only the seizure of assets obtained from drug profits but also the cancellation of driving licenses, passports, and Aadhaar cards associated with these activities.
