New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Dwarka district police’s anti-burglary unit has arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a series of thefts in New Delhi. The suspect was found in possession of three stolen mobile phones, five pairs of silver anklets, and two silver coins.
Police identified the accused as Sachin, a resident of Vijay Enclave in Dabri. He has been linked to 25 theft and burglary cases. During questioning, Sachin admitted that he resorted to theft to impress his friends and showcase a luxurious lifestyle within his social circle.
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Kushal Pal Singh, a special operation targeting thieves and burglars was initiated. On September 26, Head Constable Ritesh Kumar received a tip-off about Sachin’s plan to dispose of stolen goods in Mahavir Enclave. This information was relayed to the anti-burglary unit, leading to the formation of a specialized team under Inspector Basant Kumar.
The police team discreetly positioned themselves around the paths leading to a local park. Shortly thereafter, they spotted a man approaching from Mahavir Vihar. An informant identified him as Sachin. When police signaled him to stop, he attempted to flee into the park’s interior rooms but was apprehended by Constable Ashish.
Upon searching Sachin, officers recovered three mobile phones. Further inspection revealed a coconut-shaped silver cover containing the five pairs of anklets and two coins. During ongoing interrogation, Sachin confessed that he had stolen these items about seven to eight days earlier from a house on 25 Foota Road in Dabri, intending to sell them. The recovered jewelry matched the description of stolen property listed in an e-FIR filed at the Dabri police station.
Police noted that Sachin has completed education up to the 10th grade and engaged in theft to project an image of wealth among his peers.
