Buldhana, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has conducted a significant operation in Buldhana, Maharashtra, seizing approximately ₹3.51 crore worth of refined soybean oil. This action took place in Khambgaon during the festive season, prompted by violations of food safety regulations and concerns regarding the oil’s quality.
On September 28, FDA officials raided the premises of A.M. OILS Private Limited, located in the MIDC area of Khambgaon. During the inspection, they discovered a large stockpile of open refined soybean oil.
Authorities revealed that the establishment was operating without a valid food license. Additionally, there were doubts about the quality of the oil, which led to the seizure.
Officials collected samples of the oil for laboratory testing. In total, around 248,845.4 kilograms of refined soybean oil, valued at ₹3,50,87,201.40, was confiscated.
The FDA stated that further legal action would be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, following the receipt of the laboratory report.
Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Munde emphasized the department’s commitment to ensuring food quality and compliance with safety regulations. He warned that strict measures would continue against establishments engaged in unlicensed food operations or the storage and sale of substandard food products.
Earlier, on September 22, the FDA had seized approximately ₹30.82 lakh worth of suspicious, adulterated, mislabeled, and low-quality food items, including ghee, khoya, peda, jaggery, oil, tea powder, sweets, and more.
