Noida, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Noida police have successfully uncovered a theft ring that targeted mobile phones and laptops belonging to residents of paying guest accommodations and homes. On September 29, 2026, authorities arrested one adult suspect and took four minors into custody during the operation.
The police seized a stolen Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle, an Apple MacBook Pro, ten mobile phones from various brands, and an illegal knife from the accused. The police received intelligence about the gang’s activities, leading to a strategic operation near Chhijarsi Barakhamba.
The arrested suspect, identified as Rohit, also known as Chhanga, is the son of Mangal Singh and hails from Puranpur village in Kasganj district. He is currently residing in Chhijarsi Colony, Sector-63, Gautam Buddh Nagar. Rohit, approximately 20 years old, has multiple cases against him for theft, illegal weapons, and violations of the Excise Act at both Sector-63 and Sector-49 police stations.
During questioning, police learned that the gang would scout rental properties and paying guest accommodations to identify vulnerable targets. They would then steal mobile phones, laptops, and other valuables when opportunities arose. The stolen items were reportedly sold at low prices to passersby under the pretense of financial hardship.
Police indicated that the gang primarily targeted areas with high populations of renters. The motorcycle recovered was reported stolen in the Sector-49 area, and investigations are ongoing to identify the rightful owners of the recovered mobile phones and laptops. Authorities are also gathering information about other potential members of the gang and the sale of stolen goods.
The investigation continues as police work to connect the stolen items to previous thefts and to prevent further incidents.
