Hyderabad, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : Opposition leaders in Telangana have launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for his consistent absence from the assembly. Congress legislators claimed that while KCR spends millions on his salary and security, he neglects pressing public issues in the legislative assembly.
Congress MLA T. Ram Mohan Reddy stated, “To date, KCR has drawn a salary of ₹1.2 crore as the leader of the opposition. Additionally, at least ₹20 crore has been spent on his security, which includes expenses for his convoy, protection, travel, and accommodations. He has not attended the assembly for over ten days and has failed to raise any public concerns. He merely signs in and leaves. No other leader has incurred such expenses. When we questioned this, he created a ruckus with other legislators.”
Another Congress MLA, J. Ramchandra Naik, emphasized the need for KCR to address issues affecting the public. “We invite KCR to discuss what he has accomplished in the past ten years and what we have achieved in the last two and a half years. Whether he comes to discuss or not, he is engaging in theatrics on the streets. The public did not elect him for such drama. The people have witnessed KCR’s theatrics for the last ten years.”
Congress MLA G. Vinod remarked that KCR’s participation in assembly sessions is not the core issue, but rather that there is currently no effective opposition leader in Telangana.
Congress MLC Balamoorthy Venkata highlighted the importance of discipline within the party, stating, “Discipline is paramount in Congress. Regardless of who it is, whether from any caste or religion, everyone is equal before the party.”
