Trump Proposes Renaming AI to Super Intelligence Amid Industry Regulations

Washington, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : President Donald Trump announced plans to officially rename artificial intelligence (AI) as “Super Intelligence” during a meeting with technology leaders in Washington. He expressed his support for self-regulation within the industry and reaffirmed America’s commitment to maintaining its technological edge over China.

During the meeting, Trump indicated that a formal document would be signed to make the name change official. He emphasized that companies should collaborate with local communities to ensure that data centers provide economic benefits to residents.

“We are going to change the name to ‘Super Intelligence,’” Trump stated. He argued that the term “artificial” does not accurately describe the technology. In a separate announcement, he mentioned that the administration would adopt the abbreviation SI for the new term.

“This is superior intelligence,” he added, linking the proposed name change to a broader effort to expand technology and preserve America’s leadership in the field. He praised the officials present and claimed that this industry could surpass the Industrial Revolution in significance.

When asked about the need for regulations, Trump highlighted the importance of existing laws and stressed self-regulation. “Self-regulation should be significant,” he said, referencing the Department of Justice and the FBI as agencies capable of addressing misconduct. However, he did not specify any new regulatory requirements or clarify how self-regulation would function.

Trump urged technology companies to operate with integrity and maintain trust. He warned that if companies take dangerous paths, government agencies may intervene.

The president also cautioned against technology collaborations with China that could expose sensitive American information. “If we do joint ventures with China, we will give away many secrets,” he remarked, emphasizing that the competition is primarily between the U.S. and China, with no other country playing a significant role.

“We are currently ahead of China and everyone else, and I want to keep it that way,” he stated. Trump noted that he had discussed technology matters with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but kept the conversations limited to protect American interests. He acknowledged that both nations collaborate in other areas.

During lunch, Trump mentioned that technology companies are ready to work closely with the communities hosting data centers. Potential support could include energy supply, education, and financial assistance for teachers and residents.

He asserted that areas with data centers have become wealthier and have experienced tax reductions, although he provided no specific data or named any particular community. Trump reiterated that companies want these communities to remain safe and prosperous, warning that projects might need to be relocated if suitable sites are not found.

When questioned about initial public offerings (IPOs) and security concerns, Trump said a statement would be released regarding the meeting but did not directly address the proposal.
