Mumbai, August 30: In a significant move under the ongoing Jan Vishwas campaign in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited the recently liberated Balaghat district on Saturday. During his visit, he announced a financial assistance of two lakh rupees for the families of those who have lost their lives due to illness.
Balaghat has recently gained attention for two reasons: it has become free from Naxal issues, and it has witnessed a tragic rise in child mortality due to illnesses.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that the government is committed to transforming Balaghat’s image with a substantial budget. “We are working towards addressing the root causes of these problems to ensure that such diseases can be prevented in the future. I have felt the pain and suffering of families who have lost loved ones, which is why I have decided to provide financial assistance of two lakh rupees to each affected family,” he stated.
Additionally, he revealed plans to develop infrastructure in 100 villages that were once affected by Naxal activities, with an investment of 225 crore rupees. This initiative aims to enhance essential services such as roads, electricity, drinking water, education, and healthcare in these areas. The development is expected to accelerate progress, improve living conditions for villagers, and integrate these previously affected villages into the mainstream of development.
Yadav also highlighted the natural beauty of Balaghat and the surrounding Lanjhi region, suggesting that it has the potential to rival Cherapunji. The area’s rich cultural traditions and simple way of life make it unique from a tourism perspective. He pointed out the immense possibilities for eco-tourism and tribal tourism by linking the region’s natural and cultural heritage with tourism development.
