Chief Minister Dhami Prioritizes Pilgrim Comfort for Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Journeys

Dehradun, June 23: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the importance of ensuring comfort for all pilgrims visiting the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib during a high-level meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

He welcomed pilgrims and tourists coming to the sacred land of Uttarakhand, highlighting its rich heritage of faith, culture, and nature. CM Dhami urged everyone to enjoy their journey in the serene environment of Uttarakhand and to disregard any rumors.

Addressing recent incidents in Karnprayag and Nagarasu, he assured that the state government, administration, and police are taking necessary actions while considering all perspectives. He stated that strict measures would be enforced against anyone found guilty based on the investigation.

The Chief Minister noted that both the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib journeys are operating smoothly. So far, over 4 million pilgrims have visited the Char Dham, while the initial days of the Hemkund Sahib pilgrimage have seen an increase of 25,000 pilgrims compared to last year.

He mentioned that Uttarakhand is home to three major sacred sites established by Sikh Gurus—Hemkund Sahib, Reetha Sahib, and Nanakmata Sahib—attracting large numbers of devotees annually. He stressed that respecting all visitors is an integral part of Uttarakhand’s culture and tradition, embodying the spirit of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (the guest is God).

CM Dhami appealed to those spreading misleading information on social media to refrain from creating division within communities. He acknowledged the significant contributions of people from all religions in advancing the nation and made it clear that legal action would be taken against those disseminating false and inflammatory news.

He reiterated that all religious sites are centers of faith, inspiration, and guidance for society. The state government firmly stands against any actions that could harm an individual’s dignity or any religion and faith. He emphasized that dialogue, goodwill, and a harmonious environment are essential for resolving issues.

Present at the meeting were Hemant Dwivedi, President of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee; Narendrajeet Singh Bindra, President of the Hemkund Sahib Management Trust; Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan; Additional Chief Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu; Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli; Director General of Police Deepam Seth; Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey; DG of Intelligence and Security Abhinav Kumar; IG Mrs. Riddhim Agarwal; and Additional Secretaries Banshidhar Tiwari and Tripti Bhatt.
