
New Delhi, June 18: India’s third Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General N.S. Raja Subramani, visited the Western Naval Command on Thursday to review operational readiness and maritime security initiatives.
During his visit, General Subramani engaged in detailed discussions with Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan and other senior officials regarding operational preparedness, capability development, and emerging security challenges.
This marks General Subramani’s first visit to the Western Command since assuming the role of CDS on May 31. The Western Command, located near Chandigarh, is one of the Indian Army’s primary operational commands, responsible for securing the western borders. General Subramani also toured several units and structures under the Western Naval Command to assess their frontline operational capabilities.
Addressing military personnel, General Subramani commended their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to safeguarding India’s maritime interests. He emphasized that the Indian Navy plays a crucial role in ensuring maritime security, maintaining high levels of operational readiness, and enhancing jointness among the armed forces in support of national security objectives.
This visit is deemed significant as such inspections aim to evaluate the military’s war preparedness and integration.
Since the beginning of his tenure, General Subramani has focused on jointness, self-reliance, and innovation. He has stated his commitment to enhancing coordination among the three armed forces, promoting the development and rapid deployment of indigenous weapons, and strengthening self-reliance in the defense sector.
He has also stressed the importance of innovation, modernization, and collaboration among all stakeholders to further bolster the country’s defense capabilities.
