Major Child Trafficking Ring Busted in New Delhi, 12 Arrested

New Delhi, June 18: The Central District Unit of the Delhi Police has successfully dismantled a significant interstate child trafficking ring, leading to the arrest of 12 suspects. During this operation, five newborns were rescued. This gang had been involved in the illegal trade of infants for an extended period and was active across various states in the country.

According to police reports, the network operated in a highly organized manner. The accused would transport newborns from other states and then falsify their birth records and identification documents to sell them illegally. Initial investigations reveal that the gang sold infants to needy and childless couples for large sums of money.

The Delhi Police stated that some of the arrested individuals were apprehended in Delhi, while others were caught in Rajasthan. This gang had a widespread presence across multiple states, with indications that children were also sold in Haryana and other regions. Authorities believe this is a major racket that has been active for a long time, with over 20 cases of illegal child trafficking already identified.

Investigating officials noted that the suspects obtained newborns through hospitals and other means, concealing their identities. They prepared fake birth certificates and other documents to make the adoptions appear legal.

The police have launched an extensive investigation into the matter, seeking to uncover additional individuals involved in this network. They are also looking into the states where the children were sold and the identities of the buyers.

The five rescued newborns are currently being kept in a safe location and are receiving care under the supervision of the Child Welfare Committee. Police officials have asserted that strict action against such organized crimes will continue, and the entire network will soon be fully exposed.

The Delhi Police has hailed this operation as a significant success in the fight against human trafficking, indicating that further arrests may follow.
