Mumbai, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken a significant step in the Ekme Boulevard housing scam by filing a chargesheet against five former promoters and directors of Ekme Realty Private Limited and its parent company, Ekme Housing India Private Limited. This development comes amid an ongoing investigation into large-scale fraud involving homebuyers.
The case is linked to fraudulent activities related to the Ekme Boulevard housing project located in Jogeshwari (East), in the village of Majas, Mumbai. The chargesheet was submitted to the third court of the Esplanade Court in Mumbai.
The CBI’s investigation revealed that the accused builders and their promoters allegedly deceived homebuyers with false promises and fraudulent claims, seeking to gain financial benefits through illegal and deceptive means.
Substantial evidence has been uncovered during the investigation, leading to the filing of the chargesheet under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These sections pertain to criminal conspiracy, fraud, criminal breach of trust, and the dishonest receipt of stolen property.
Additionally, the CBI is investigating 32 other cases involving various builder companies and unknown officials from financial institutions across the country. These cases have been registered following directives from the Supreme Court and include allegations of fraud against homebuyers and misappropriation of funds.
The CBI has previously targeted several other construction firms and financial institutions in connection with similar fraudulent activities, reiterating its commitment to ensuring accountability in cases of economic crimes, corruption, and fraud against the public, especially those that adversely affect ordinary citizens and homebuyers.
