Bhopal, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant move aimed at empowering the youth, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved a 20% reservation for Agniveers in uniformed services. This decision aligns with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s vision for youth empowerment.
Under the new policy, recruitment for the position of constables (General Duty) in the Home Department will feature a reservation breakdown of 10% for Home Guards, 5% for ex-servicemen, and 20% for Agniveers. Similar horizontal reservations have been established across various departments.
For the Special Armed Forces within the Home Department, the same allocation applies: 10% for Home Guards, 5% for ex-servicemen, and 20% for Agniveers. In the Jail Department, positions for jail guards will also see a reservation of 15% for Home Guards, 5% for ex-servicemen, and 20% for Agniveers.
The Forest Department will implement a reservation of 15% for Home Guards, 5% for ex-servicemen, and 20% for Agniveers for forest guard positions. Additionally, the Commercial Tax Department will reserve 10% for Home Guards, 5% for ex-servicemen, and 20% for Agniveers for the role of excise constables.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal to provide grain at the rate of 1 rupee per kilogram to residents of hostels, ashrams, and community welfare centers run by the Welfare Department for denotified, nomadic, and semi-nomadic tribes. This arrangement mirrors the existing provisions for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe hostels and ashrams.
Furthermore, an allocation of 2.41 crore rupees was approved for the Handloom Directorate, which includes the creation of 12 new positions across district handloom offices in Mauganj, Chhindwara, Maihar, and Tikamgarh. A substantial budget of 358.22 crore rupees was also approved for continuing the Kanha Diversion Closed Duct Project in Ujjain from 2026-27 to 2030-31. This project aims to prevent contaminated water from the Kanha River from flowing into the holy Shipra River, redirecting it through a 30.15-kilometer underground tunnel and covered canal towards the Gambhira River. The initiative is set to be implemented ahead of the Singhast Mahaparv in Ujjain in 2028.
