CBI Conducts Raids at 77 Locations in Builder-Financial Institution Collusion Case

New Delhi, April 14: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a significant operation based on directives from the Supreme Court, filing 22 new cases against various builders. These cases span across 77 locations in eight states and union territories, marking a comprehensive search effort.

The investigations are linked to alleged collusion between builders and officials from financial institutions, which has reportedly defrauded unsuspecting homebuyers. These searches are part of a nationwide crackdown. Authorities have seized incriminating documents, digital devices, and other materials, which are currently under examination. The primary goal of this operation is to gather crucial evidence related to a larger conspiracy involving embezzlement, financial irregularities, and fraud in the real estate sector.

Previously, the CBI had registered 28 cases against different builders under the Supreme Court’s guidance. These cases are now in the final stages of investigation. To date, the CBI has filed a total of 50 cases following the Supreme Court’s directives. The agency reaffirms its commitment to conducting fair, impartial, and swift investigations to bring the guilty to justice and protect the interests of affected homebuyers.

In another development, the CBI arrested a wanted individual on Monday in connection with the kidnapping of two residents from Kolkata in 2014. An official statement revealed that after the high court assigned the case, the CBI sought Bhola Singh, also known as Gautam Kumar or Amit Sharma. Singh is also wanted in 11 other cases related to kidnapping, attempted murder, and illegal possession of weapons and explosives, as reported by the Bihar police. He had been on the run since the investigation began in 2015. The CBI discovered him using fake identification in Surat. Following the identification of a secret hideout, Singh was apprehended during a coordinated operation on Monday.
