
New Delhi, June 12: Cabinet Secretary Dr. T.V. Somanathan held a meeting on Friday with the Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) to review preparations for the NEET UG re-examination scheduled for June 21.
Dr. Somanathan issued a stern warning, stating that any attempts to compromise the fairness, reliability, or smooth conduct of the NEET re-examination will face strict legal action.
He emphasized that the full force of the law will be applied against such elements. During the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary stressed the importance of improved coordination among all stakeholders to ensure a fair, transparent, secure, and smooth examination process.
Maintaining the credibility and integrity of the examination is the top priority. The central government, along with all relevant departments and institutions, is working collaboratively towards this goal. Dr. Somanathan noted that monitoring of the examination preparations is being conducted at a high level. In this context, he had previously met with various secretaries of the central government and officials from relevant agencies on June 1, 2026, to review the arrangements.
Following that, a review meeting with the Chief Secretaries of all states was held on June 4, 2026, to assess the preparations, security measures, and coordination status related to the examination. These review meetings discussed in detail the security arrangements at examination centers, safe transportation of question papers, monitoring of the examination process, administrative coordination, and measures to prevent any potential irregularities.
Officials were instructed to ensure that candidates face no difficulties during the examination and that the entire process is conducted transparently. The government’s aim is to maintain the credibility of the NEET re-examination, strengthen student confidence, and ensure a completely fair and secure examination process. Continuous coordination meetings at both the central and state levels are being organized, and all relevant agencies are receiving necessary directives.
It is noteworthy that the NEET re-examination will be held on June 21, 2026. Extensive security and monitoring arrangements are being made to ensure transparency and credibility throughout the process, completely eliminating the possibility of any irregularities.
