New Delhi, 20 November (Daily Kiran): Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has once again reduced the service validity of its ₹99 plan, which is one of the company’s most affordable options for consumers. The plan has seen multiple changes over time, with benefits being cut silently without public announcements.

Until last year, the ₹99 plan offered 18 days of service validity. It was later reduced to 15 days, and now the validity has been cut further.

Updated benefits of the ₹99 plan

Under the latest update, BSNL’s ₹99 plan now offers:

  • 14 days service validity

  • 50MB data usage

  • Unlimited voice calling

  • Speed reduced to 40 Kbps after 50MB data use

With the new changes, the daily cost of using this plan has gone up to ₹7.07.

BSNL has been modifying this plan as part of its efforts to increase revenue and improve average revenue per user (ARPU). The telecom operator is also expanding its 4G services, which are now available at most of its planned one lakh sites.

This is a voice-only plan, and users needing data must recharge with a separate data voucher. While still one of the cheapest options in the industry to keep a SIM active for a short duration, the plan is no longer as affordable as it once was.
