Mumbai, April 27: Google is actively enhancing its editing capabilities in Google Photos. Recently, the tech giant added a quick facial touch-up feature. Now, another similar feature has been launched. The new “AI Enhance” button is located next to the existing Enhance and Dynamic buttons in the Auto tab of the image editor.
We tested the feature ourselves. While it effectively restores highlights and shadows, addresses common lighting issues, and slightly boosts colors, it does not stand out as revolutionary. Competing AI enhancement tools already offer similar capabilities. However, subtlety can be beneficial in photography, and having an additional tool is a welcome addition. Currently, AI Enhance is available globally for all Android users and appears to be free.
An interesting point to note is that Google mentions “output varies by device.” This suggests that some processing occurs on the device itself. However, we attempted to use it fully offline, and it did not function, so do not expect complete offline capabilities.
