Banswara, 6 December (Daily Kiran) – A major racket involving black marketing of fertilizer has been uncovered in Banswara district amid a severe shortage of fertilizer. Traders in the Ghatol area were found selling fertilizer at prices far above the official rate, taking advantage of administrative negligence. The scam was exposed thanks to the vigilance of local villagers.

Nodal officer Ajay Ninama and the Ghatol team acted promptly upon receiving information and raided the spot. They seized a trolley and a pickup vehicle loaded with RCM Ujjwala fertilizer. The trolley was carrying a total of 780 bags of fertilizer. It was revealed that fertilizer officially priced at Rs 266 per bag was being sold in the black market for Rs 600.

The fertilizer was supposed to be unloaded at Harshita Traders in Nogama area, coming from Chanderia, Chittorgarh. However, midway at Doongar in Ghatol subdivision, the stock was being unloaded at the premises of trader Kishore Kalal. Villagers noticed the suspicious unloading and informed the administration in time, leading to the exposure of the entire black marketing operation.

The revelation has created an uproar in Banswara district, where fertilizer shortage has persisted for a long time, causing protests by farmers at various places. Fertilizer meant to be available to farmers at subsidized rates through cooperative stores was instead reaching private traders and being sold at inflated prices.

The exposure of this large-scale black marketing has triggered anger among farmers. Hundreds gathered outside Khamera police station, loudly demanding strict action against the culprits. Farmers are pressing the administration to conduct investigations everywhere, prompting ongoing checks and raids on other fertilizer traders as well.

Nodal officer Ajay Ninama stated that following farmers’ alerts, action is being taken at the department level and strict measures will be implemented against the traders involved in fertilizer black marketing.
