Kyiv, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned a recent Russian drone attack on a Coca-Cola plant located in Kyiv, labeling it as a clear message to the United States. The attack, carried out using a Shahed drone, targeted the American company’s facility on Thursday evening.
In a post on the social media platform X, Zelensky stated that Russia is fully aware that Coca-Cola is an American company, yet they chose to attack it nonetheless. He remarked, “It seems that Coca-Cola has become such a significant enemy to them that they are now using their Shahed drones against it. This is a straightforward message from Russia to the United States. Russia cannot claim ignorance about the fact that this is an American company.”
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba also condemned the attack, asserting that it was not an isolated incident. He characterized it as a deliberate strike against U.S. business interests and part of a broader Russian strategy aimed at undermining the American economy and pressuring U.S. companies out of international markets.
The statement emphasized that only a strong and resolute stance can show Moscow its limits. In this context, there have been renewed calls for the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the “Sanctioning Russia Act.”
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated that Western sanctions are impacting the Russian economy. He noted ongoing discussions between the U.S. and Ukraine regarding future production of advanced missile defense systems in Ukraine.
Rubio highlighted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently facing numerous domestic and wartime challenges. The effects of attacks and sanctions on the Russian economy rank among his major concerns, although he did not provide specific figures or mention any particular Ukrainian attack.
