New Delhi, August 25: Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor criticized AAP’s Delhi convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj on Monday, claiming he only knows how to engage in deceptive politics. Kapoor stated that Bhardwaj has been playing the same political game since 2013.
He described Bhardwaj’s recent comments regarding waterlogging in Delhi as misleading, comparing them to his erroneous statements made during the first rainfall of the monsoon season. Kapoor emphasized that the issue of waterlogging is not a recent problem but has plagued the city for the past 27-28 years.
However, he noted that in 2025 and 2026, there has been a significant reduction of up to 75% in the main waterlogged areas. The situation from Minto Road to Zakhira Underpass and Nangloi-Najafgarh Road to Sangam Vihar-Devli Road has improved by 60 to 80% compared to 2024.
Kapoor reminded Bhardwaj that between 2015 and 2023, an average of 25 people died each year due to waterlogging in Delhi. In 2024 alone, 49 innocent lives were lost, including the tragic incident at the Education Academy in Rajendra Nagar.
He assured the people of Delhi that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Water Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh, the city will be free from waterlogging issues by 2028. Kapoor acknowledged that while heavy rainfall may cause temporary flooding, it will be cleared within 15 minutes after the rain stops.
In another event, a program titled ‘Pawan Maati Kalash – Vandan aur Vitaran’ was held at Talkatora Stadium to commemorate the 650th anniversary of Sant Shiroamani Guru Ravidas. BJP National President Nitin Naveen dispatched vehicles carrying sacred soil from Varanasi to all 14 districts of Delhi. This initiative, part of the ‘Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan’, aims to spread messages of devotion, social harmony, and equality.
