Beijing, August 25: The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China has reported significant advancements in urban parks and green spaces during the first half of this year.
During this period, the construction of pocket parks and urban green pathways has been actively promoted, alongside the enhancement of existing parks and green areas. The initiative aims to better meet the recreational and exercise needs of citizens near their homes.
According to the latest data, over 2,800 pocket parks and 2,450 kilometers of urban green pathways have commenced construction nationwide this year. Additionally, approximately 7,500 hectares of urban parks and green areas have been upgraded. Efforts are also underway to open these parks and green spaces to the public, encouraging shared use. As part of this initiative, around 24,800 hectares of grasslands have been gradually opened to the community.
Moreover, the facilities available in parks across the country have been expanded. Urban parks now feature more than 15,000 locations for various sports and fitness activities, including table tennis tables. This expansion aims to better cater to the diverse recreational, sports, and fitness needs of citizens.
