Beijing, August 25: The peak season for summer grain procurement is currently underway across China. On August 24, the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration of China released the latest figures.
According to the report, various grain companies nationwide have purchased over 90 million tons of wheat so far. The procurement process is proceeding in an organized manner throughout the country, with overall progress deemed satisfactory.
A relevant official from the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration stated that to protect the interests of grain-producing farmers, national departments have implemented a minimum purchase price plan for rice in Jiangxi and Hunan provinces starting in August.
Additionally, a minimum purchase price plan for wheat has also been introduced in Hunan province. These policies aim to stabilize market expectations and safeguard farmers’ interests.
In the next phase, the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration will advance market-based procurement alongside policy-driven storage. Continuous monitoring of weather changes, such as rainfall, will be maintained. Relevant provinces will receive guidance to enhance grain drying and storage capacity and improve procurement systems to minimize post-harvest grain losses.
Furthermore, cooperation between grain production and marketing will be strengthened, along with improved communication between farmers and companies. This will facilitate easier grain sales for farmers and ensure stable market operations.
