Gunfight in Jharkhand: Member of Rahul Dubey Gang Injured and Arrested

Ranchi, August 25: A gunfight erupted early Tuesday morning between police and criminals in the Piparwar area of Jharkhand’s Chatra district. During the exchange of fire, a suspected member of the Rahul Dubey gang, identified as Vikas Kumar, was shot in the leg. He was apprehended by the police while injured, while his accomplices managed to escape into the darkness.

According to police reports, the encounter took place in a border area between the Tandwa and Piparwar police stations. Vikas Kumar was first treated at a local hospital before being referred to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital in Hazaribagh for further care.

Chatra Superintendent of Police, Animesh Naithani, stated that the police had been actively searching for members of the Rahul Dubey gang following a shooting incident at a private outsourcing agency’s office in the Koyalanchal region. Acting on a tip-off, the police team cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation.

As the criminals realized they were surrounded, they opened fire on the police team. In response, the police returned fire, resulting in Vikas Kumar sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg. He was subsequently arrested, while his associates took advantage of the chaos to flee.

Just two days prior, four masked motorcycle-borne criminals from the Rahul Dubey gang had entered the office of Sushil Infra Company at the Chandragupt Coal Project and fired approximately 20 rounds. One security guard from the SIS Private Security Agency, who was on duty at the time, was injured in that incident. The assailants also left behind a handwritten note claiming responsibility for the attack.

The police operation was led by Tandwa SDPO Prabhat Ranjan. Following the encounter, a search operation is ongoing in the area, with police conducting raids on potential hideouts to apprehend the fleeing criminals.
