BJP Releases Candidate List for Maharashtra Legislative Council Elections

Mumbai, May 31: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidate list for the Maharashtra Legislative Council biennial elections and by-elections for 2026. On Sunday, the party’s Central Election Committee approved the names of candidates contesting from local authority constituencies.

According to a press release from the BJP, a total of 10 candidates have been confirmed for the Maharashtra Legislative Council biennial elections in 2026. Arun Lakhani has been nominated from the Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli local authority constituency. Avinash Brahmankar will contest from the Bhandara-Gondia seat, while Praveen Pote Patil has been selected for the Amaravati constituency.

The party has also declared Dhairyashil Kadam as the candidate for the Sangli-Satara seat, Rajendra Raut for Solapur, and Prajakta Tanpure for Ahilyanagar. Suhas Shirsat has been given a ticket from the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna constituency.

Additionally, Amar Rajurkar will represent the Nanded seat, Basavaraj Patil will contest from the Dharashiv-Latur-Beed constituency, and Nandkishor Mahajan will be the candidate from Jalgaon.

For the Maharashtra Legislative Council by-elections in 2026, the BJP has also announced its candidate, Dr. Rajiv Potdar, for the Nagpur local authority constituency.

This candidate list, approved by the BJP’s Central Election Committee, was released by Arun Singh, the party’s National General Secretary and in-charge of the headquarters. The party leadership is optimistic that these candidates will perform well based on organizational strength and public support in their respective regions.

The Maharashtra Legislative Council elections are considered crucial for the state’s political landscape. Following the announcement of candidates by the BJP, all eyes are now on the electoral contest and the strategies of other parties.
