Dehradun, June 15: A shocking case of familial violence has emerged in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Late Sunday night, a young man was shot dead in the Patel Nagar police jurisdiction, causing widespread panic. Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene, sending the body for post-mortem and initiating an investigation.

According to reports, Sohail’s younger brother was at home while their parents were on a pilgrimage. During a heated argument, the younger brother, under the influence of alcohol, shot Sohail, resulting in his immediate death.

The police quickly arrived at the scene and took possession of the body for further investigation. A forensic team also collected evidence. Meanwhile, members of the Muslim community blocked the highway in protest. Police intervened to clear the road and sent the deceased for post-mortem. Authorities are reviewing nearby CCTV footage and investigating the case from all angles.

Dehradun’s SP City, Pramod Kumar, stated that they received information about a shooting in the Bhuddi Wala area of Nayagaon. The police, along with the CO and SSP, inspected the site. The body was transported to the hospital via ambulance, and necessary legal procedures are underway. The forensic team has also conducted an examination of the scene. Further actions will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.

The SP mentioned that some individuals had blocked the highway, and FIRs would be filed against them. The investigation is ongoing, and those responsible for the incident will not be spared. The motives behind the shooting are still unclear, but all possible angles are being explored. Security measures in the area have been heightened.

Earlier, on Saturday, a BJP worker was brutally beaten to death in the Bairagiwala village of Dehradun, while three family members sustained serious injuries. Following violent protests related to this incident, police arrested four suspects and demolished illegal structures at their homes.

According to police, a dispute arose between BJP worker Vinod and Imtiaz from his village over irrigation issues. After the argument, over 40 individuals armed with sticks, wooden planks, hammers, and spades attacked Vinod’s home. Vinod died from a blow to the head with a hammer.
