Kolkata, June 15: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has responded to discussions regarding the meeting between rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, as well as their potential merger with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI). He stated that forming a new party will not allow people to forget their previous statements.
During a media interaction on Monday morning, Ghosh remarked, “Any MP can meet the Speaker to present their views. I am not aware of the specific purpose or details of the discussions, but it is true that a lot is happening. When written information is provided and examined, the Speaker will make a decision. If they receive recognition as a separate party, they will have the right to sit separately. However, it is true that everyone wants to leave TMC.”
Regarding the discussions about the merger of the rebel MPs with NCPI, he said, “We have been saying that TMC will cease to exist once it loses power. Even those within the party know that as long as TMC remains in power, they will stay, but will eventually seek their own paths. Today, councilors, MLAs, and MPs all want to separate from TMC.”
Ghosh pointed out that the corruption and administration issues in West Bengal have caused dissatisfaction among party members. It is not just about Mamata Banerjee; we have observed how these individuals communicate. He emphasized, “Forming a new party will not allow people to forget their statements.”
On the topic of attacks on TMC leaders in Bengal involving eggs, Ghosh stated, “Some MPs are even sitting abroad, but they know that eggs have been kept for them too. They are sending messages from abroad that if anyone throws eggs at us, we will file a case. However, it is evident that these leaders are afraid, and that fear is a good thing.”
Additionally, regarding the CID summons for Abhishek Banerjee, Ghosh mentioned, “He has had to go multiple times. He has been there before, and now the CID is calling him. The ED is also sending notices.”
