Tamil Nadu CM Vijays Divorce Hearing Set for Today in Chengalpattu Court

Chennai, June 15: The Chengalpattu Family Welfare Court is scheduled to hear the divorce petition filed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK leader C. Joseph Vijay and his wife, Sangeeta. This case has garnered significant public attention, especially with recent reports suggesting attempts at reconciliation between the couple.

Sangeeta filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. In her petition, she accused Vijay of mental harassment and claimed he was involved in an extramarital affair with a film actress. She is seeking a divorce decree, alimony based on Vijay’s social and economic status, and the right to continue residing in their family home in Neelankarai.

The case initially came before the Chengalpattu Family Welfare Court, which postponed the hearing due to the absence of both parties. Only their legal representatives attended the proceedings.

Lawyers for both sides informed the court that their clients are public figures, and attending in person could pose security and logistical challenges. They requested permission to conduct the proceedings via video conferencing.

Considering these factors, the court rescheduled the hearing for June 15.

This upcoming hearing is particularly significant as it follows shortly after Vijay assumed office as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister. Speculation is rife regarding whether he will appear in court personally or participate virtually with court approval.

The proceedings have sparked considerable interest among Vijay’s supporters and political analysts, especially following social media reports suggesting efforts to reunite the couple.

Although neither Vijay nor Sangeeta has publicly commented on these rumors, discussions about a potential reconciliation have intensified in recent days.

As the hearing approaches, all eyes are on whether the court proceedings will provide clarity on the future of the couple’s relationship.

Given the high-profile nature of this case and Vijay’s position as Chief Minister, it is expected that supporters, the public, and the media will closely monitor the hearing.
