Haldwani, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Nitin Naveen, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), made headlines on September 10, 2026, when he participated in a football match with local youth in Haldwani, Nainital district. This event took place after a meeting of the state working committee at the Mini Ground on Nainital Road, where he was seen enjoying the game alongside young players.
Accompanying Naveen were Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, MP Anil Baluni, and Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat. Following the match, Naveen engaged in a dialogue with the youth, listening to their experiences and discussing their activities.

Earlier that week, during a conference for ex-servicemen in Haldwani, Naveen highlighted various initiatives launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, emphasizing their impact on the armed forces and national security. He spoke about the government’s focus on border infrastructure and connectivity, noting a shift in perspective towards border villages, now seen as “first villages” rather than “last villages.”
Naveen stressed the importance of enhancing connectivity in border areas to promote development and meet the operational needs of the armed forces. He pointed out that this improved approach has been evident since 2014, with significant advancements in infrastructure.
He also mentioned efforts to honor military sacrifices, including the National War Memorial in New Delhi, which commemorates 25,942 soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Plans for a ‘Sainik Dham’ in Dehradun and the installation of statues in memory of 1,845 martyrs in their villages further underline the government’s commitment to honoring military personnel.
