Mumbai, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Leaders Raj Thackeray of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) have launched a strong critique of the Election Commission of India (ECI). They are urging the citizens of Maharashtra to join a significant public rally in Mumbai this Sunday.
The protest aims to highlight alleged manipulations in the voter list and structural irregularities linked to the “Special Intensive Revision” (SIR) process. On Saturday, both parties accused the Election Commission of deceiving voters and acting as an extension of the ruling party at the center.
While the MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT) are organizing the demonstration, the leaders emphasized that this protest transcends party politics. They are presenting the rally as a broader people’s movement and have confirmed plans to engage with all political parties to form a united opposition front.
In their statement, they declared, “This is a rally for the people. To ensure it is not limited to one party, we will reach out to all political parties to join this front.” They described the upcoming movement as a decisive battle for the protection of the country’s democratic framework and institutional integrity.
The organizers are calling on citizens to take to the streets of Mumbai in large numbers, aiming to register a strong protest against institutional bias and manipulation in the voter list under the SIR process. The march is set to commence from Metro Cinema.
Concluding their statement, they urged the public, “Join this rally in large numbers. Unite to save the democracy and constitution of the country!”
Previously, Raj Thackeray fiercely criticized the BJP and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, demanding the immediate cancellation of the ongoing SIR process. He accused the ruling party of using key institutional figures to maintain its grip on power and called on all opposition parties nationwide to unite for a significant movement advocating the return of paper ballots.
