New Delhi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : A shocking incident unfolded in New Delhi on Thursday morning when a dispute over just ₹10 escalated into a violent sword attack. The Kamla Market police station received a call around 10:08 AM reporting the assault near a sugarcane juice stall close to the Ajmeri Gate of the New Delhi Railway Station.
Upon investigation, authorities learned that the altercation occurred at the sugarcane stall. During the scuffle, a 35-year-old employee sustained a severe injury to his left wrist from a sword. Emergency responders arrived promptly and transported the victim to LNJP Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses managed to detain two individuals involved in the incident, identified as 21-year-old Gagandeep Singh and 30-year-old Baljeet Singh, both brothers from Jalandhar, Punjab. The duo was found in possession of swords.
Further questioning revealed that the brothers had traveled from Amritsar to Delhi by train and had spent the night at the Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib. They were at the railway station to catch a train to Nanded, Maharashtra, for a religious pilgrimage. The conflict arose after they purchased two glasses of sugarcane juice but only wanted to pay ₹50 instead of the ₹60 charged. This disagreement quickly turned violent, culminating in Gagandeep allegedly attacking the victim with a sword, resulting in the serious injury.
Medical staff at LNJP Hospital have placed the victim under observation due to the severity of his injury. The police have taken both suspects into custody and are proceeding with legal actions based on the victim’s statement. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
