Mohali, August 21: Fateh Jung Bajwa, Vice President of the Punjab BJP, has voiced his concerns regarding several pressing issues, including the Punjab shutdown called for the release of prisoners, law and order in the state, and a potential alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal.
On the matter of prisoner releases, Bajwa emphasized the need for a humane approach from the government. He stated that if a prisoner requests parole to visit an ailing mother, it should be granted.
“It is the government’s responsibility. If someone’s mother is sick and they seek parole to meet her, they should be allowed to do so. It is their fundamental right. The government should at least grant a 10-day parole and take this matter seriously,” he remarked.
Bajwa also targeted the Congress party regarding comments made by MP Deepender Hooda on the death of Sajjan Kumar, a convict in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He expressed disappointment, saying, “If a person sentenced to life imprisonment by the High Court and Supreme Court is your ideal, what message does Congress want to convey? If those who have killed innocent people, especially Sikhs, are your role models, it reveals Congress’s true face to the public. The Sikh community and the nation should see that Congress leaders are glorifying such individuals. Nothing could be more shameful and unfortunate.”
Regarding law and order in Punjab, Bajwa criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, claiming that the situation has deteriorated significantly and that the government has failed to maintain control.
“The law and order situation in Punjab is very poor. The current AAP government has completely failed on this front. If this situation continues, it will increase fear among the people and insecurity in the business sector. This is not in the state’s interest. A conducive environment is essential for Punjab’s progress,” he stated.
On the potential alliance between the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal, Bajwa mentioned that the final decision will be made by the party’s central leadership.
“This is a matter for the high command. The party leadership has already decided that the BJP will contest all 117 assembly seats in Punjab. We are prepared to fight elections on all 117 seats. Whether there will be an alliance or not will be determined by the central leadership,” he concluded.
