India Advocates Dialogue and Diplomacy for Resolving Russia-Ukraine Conflict

New Delhi, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : India reiterated its stance on resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy during a media briefing in New Delhi. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently advocated for an end to the fighting, stating that no solution can be achieved on the battlefield.

During the briefing, Jaiswal highlighted that India has always believed that dialogue and diplomacy are the way forward regarding the Ukraine crisis. Modi has repeatedly asserted that this is not an era of war and that solutions cannot emerge from armed conflict.

The Prime Minister’s call for peace was also echoed during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek, where he urged for an end to the ongoing hostilities and a shift towards peaceful negotiations.

India has maintained ongoing communication with both Russia and Ukraine to foster peace, which both nations have appreciated. Jaiswal referenced recent comments from President Putin and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, noting their acknowledgment of India’s role in the conflict.

The spokesperson also mentioned that India is discussing specific issues related to the conflict, including the security of ships in the Black Sea, grain and energy exports, and possibilities of preventing future attacks.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has also highlighted India’s efforts in addressing the immediate concerns of both countries. Jaiswal stated, “India is striving to play a supportive role regarding the security of ships in the Black Sea and addressing concerns related to grain and energy exports, as well as preventing potential attacks.”

Notably, President Putin recently commended Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to end the Ukraine conflict, recognizing his persistent advocacy for a resolution and the constructive suggestions he has proposed. During an event in Moscow, Putin remarked on the friendly relations with India, noting that Modi raises the issue of the Ukraine conflict at every meeting, demonstrating a deep interest in finding an acceptable solution for both parties.

At the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi last month, Modi reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective means to resolve current conflicts.
