Bilaspur, August 21: The Chhattisgarh High Court has raised serious concerns regarding the police investigation process in an NDPS case. The court has issued a notice to the Director General of Police (DGP), instructing him to present a response along with an affidavit.
The court questioned how the police officer, Shailendra Singh, who allegedly registered the rural complaint leading to the FIR, was allowed to investigate the case and file the charge sheet. This case involves the seizure of 2,925 clonazepam (Rivotril) tablets in the Sarkanda police station area of Bilaspur.
Petitioners claim that this case was fabricated as part of a conspiracy to implicate a woman due to a family dispute. The court has issued a notice to the concerned individual, requiring their presence either personally or through a lawyer at the next hearing scheduled for August 24.
The petitioners informed the court that the alleged bag containing banned drugs did not directly belong to the woman. Instead, it was discovered by a 14-year-old minor while flying a kite on the roof. After researching the drugs on his mobile, the child informed his mother. The family asserts that the bag was mistakenly placed near the stairs, thinking it was garbage. The petition also alleges that despite no FIR against the 14-year-old, he was taken to the police station and held for 10 hours.
The petitioners have demanded a fair investigation into the source of the drugs, the identity of the person who left the bag on the roof, the roles of those involved, and the circumstances surrounding the woman’s arrest. They have also offered to provide the child’s mobile for forensic examination. The court has directed the DGP to provide detailed information regarding the previous conduct of the investigating officer, Shailendra Singh, along with a personal affidavit.
