North 24 Parganas, June 7: The recent egg-throwing incident involving TMC leader Madan Mitra has sparked reactions from BJP leaders.
West Bengal government minister Arjun Singh suggested that Mitra staged the attack on his own vehicle to bolster his security. He questioned the credibility of Anwar, a figure allegedly linked to the incident, labeling him an inter-caste criminal involved in arms supply across Jharkhand, Bihar, and Bengal. Singh claimed that Anwar’s associate, a man named Shahbaz, serves as his frontman.
Singh further accused Anwar of encroaching on Hindu lands, asserting that Mitra orchestrated the incident to enhance his personal safety.
In response to reports of illegal weapons being recovered from a pond in Sandeshkhali, Singh stated that numerous such weapons could be found in the area, which he described as having factories for bombs and explosives. He emphasized that many illegal arms would be discovered if TMC leaders were searched.
BJP MLA Pawan Singh commented on the recovery of illegal weapons, noting that Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has established an STF team to address the issue. This team is reportedly working diligently to seize all illegal arms and explosives, particularly in border areas known for such activities.
Regarding the egg attack on Mitra’s car, Singh remarked that incidents like these should not occur under BJP governance, as the public has high expectations from their elected officials. He acknowledged that some individuals who committed atrocities during TMC’s rule are now facing public anger.
