Patna, August 28: The Education Minister of Bihar, Mithilesh Tiwari, has made a significant announcement regarding the teacher recruitment exam TRE-4. He stated that an additional 111 seats for music teachers will be added. This brings the total number of vacancies in TRE-4 to 33,385. The minister emphasized that the government’s aim is to provide better opportunities for youth and students, and decisions are being made in this direction.
Tiwari explained that the education department had initially submitted a proposal for 32,388 positions. Following this, demands arose from candidates in various language subjects. After discussions with students from subjects like Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Prakrit, and Pali, the department clarified the reservation roster and increased the number of positions by 886.
Now, additional opportunities have also been made available for candidates in the music subject. The education minister noted that many female candidates from districts such as Araria, Purnia, Gopalganj, and Kaimur had approached him. They expressed that they had been waiting for TRE-4 for a long time and had experience in the field of music.
Tiwari mentioned that these women requested a gift from him as a ‘brother’ on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Consequently, he decided to increase the seats for music subjects by 111, raising the total to 33,385.
The education minister also highlighted the decision to remove the word ‘fail’ from the examination certificates of government school students. He stated that not passing an exam does not equate to a failure in life. Therefore, the government does not want to demoralize children by marking negative terms on their certificates.
He acknowledged that some students may struggle academically, but that does not mean they lack talent. Interests can vary, with some excelling in sports, arts, or other skills. There is a need to recognize and provide opportunities for such children.
According to the education minister, instead of marking ‘fail’ on the certificates of students who do not pass, terms like ‘Eligible for Skill’ or ‘Recommended for Skill’ will be used. He also mentioned that the government is working on a plan to conduct special classes for these students, focusing on strengthening their weak subjects.
A special class lasting about a month will be organized for students filling out forms for supplementary exams. This initiative aims to prepare them for retaking the exams. Additionally, pathways for vocational and skill-based education will be opened.
Tiwari also addressed the students protesting regarding the BPSC exam. He stated that Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary showed sensitivity towards the students’ interests. Continuous discussions were held between the education department’s secretary, special secretary, and the district magistrate of Patna with the students, leading to the end of their protests.
He praised the decision of the students to end their protests and thanked the Chief Minister for his sensitivity. He clarified that the BPSC exam is an internal matter of the General Administration Department and BPSC, with no role for the education department.
However, he expressed displeasure over some students’ alleged inappropriate language during the protests. He emphasized that students are the future of Bihar and the nation, and they should communicate their concerns to the government in a respectful and democratic manner. The government always keeps the channels of communication open.
Tiwari mentioned that he comes from a background in student politics and believes in engaging with students. He encouraged students to communicate their issues to the government, assuring them that their demands would be considered positively.
Regarding teacher recruitment and examination issues, he stated that the government aims to recruit 20,000 teachers annually. He noted that students had differing opinions on whether there should be one or two exams. Many talented students have called to express their preference for a single exam with negative marking.
Tiwari assured that the upcoming exam would be conducted effectively with negative marking in place. He urged talented students to work hard, stating that success will surely follow.
