
Patna, August 28: The Bihar government has initiated a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring six senior IAS officers. The General Administration Department issued a notification regarding this change on Friday.
As part of this reshuffle, new responsibilities have been assigned to Deputy Development Commissioners (DDCs) of Nawada and Kaimur districts.
According to the notification, IAS officer Ujjwal Kumar Singh from the 2011 batch, who was serving as the Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, has been transferred and appointed as the Special Secretary in the Rural Development Department.
Meanwhile, IAS officer Shrikant Shastri from the 2012 batch, who was awaiting placement, has been appointed as the Director of the Animal Husbandry Department. He previously served as the District Magistrate of Begusarai and was transferred just last week.
IAS officer Vivek Ranjan Maitrey from the 2017 batch, a former District Magistrate of Siwan, has been appointed as the Additional Secretary in the Information and Public Relations Department.
Additionally, IAS officer Nitin Kumar Singh from the 2018 batch, who was also awaiting placement, has been appointed as the Director of the Secondary Education Department.
This administrative reshuffle has also seen two district-level officers receive new responsibilities. IAS officer Neelima Sahu from the 2021 batch, who was serving as the DDC in Nawada, has been transferred and appointed as the Joint Secretary in the Health Department.
Furthermore, IAS officer Divya Shakti from the 2022 batch, who was the DDC of Kaimur, has been appointed as the Commissioner of the Product and Liquor Prohibition Department. She has previously held significant administrative roles in Patna.
This reshuffle comes at a time when the state government has been consistently making administrative changes. It is viewed as part of an ongoing restructuring of the senior administrative framework.
Earlier, on August 26, the Bihar government transferred nine officers of the Bihar Administrative Service (BAS). According to the notification, Ajay Kumar, the Senior Sub-Divisional Officer of Gopalganj, has been appointed as the Land Reforms Sub-Divisional Officer in Darbhanga. Vishal, the District Panchayati Raj Officer of Sitamarhi, has been appointed as the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Hajipur. Sujit Kumar, the District Panchayati Raj Officer of Jehanabad, has been appointed as the SDO of Areaj. Om Prakash Lal, the Senior Sub-Divisional Officer of Rohtas, has been appointed as the SDO of Jagdishpur. Santosh Kumar, the Land Reforms Sub-Divisional Officer of Bikramganj, has been appointed as the SDO of Madhubani Sadar.
The latest administrative reshuffle by the Bihar government is considered a crucial step towards enhancing governance efficiency.
