Australia Announces ODI Squad Against Bangladesh, Head and Marsh Rested

New Delhi, June 8: Australia has announced its squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. The Kangaroos will play without Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh. Josh Inglis has been appointed as the captain for this series.

According to national selector Tony Dodemaide, Head was initially selected for both the ODI and T20 International series against Bangladesh. However, he has been granted leave for personal reasons. Marsh, on the other hand, has not recovered from his ankle injury. He is expected to join the team in Dhaka for the T20 series against Bangladesh.

Todd Murphy, who has only played Test matches for Australia, has been included in the ODI squad for the first time. He replaces Tanveer Sangha, who is dealing with a hamstring injury sustained during the second ODI against Pakistan in Lahore. Oliver Peirce and Matt Short have also been retained for the ODI series against Bangladesh, having previously been selected only for the ODI series against Pakistan.

Ben Dwarshuis and Javier Bartlett have been added to the team, replacing Riley Meredith and Billy Stanlake. Meredith is set to return for the T20 International series. With the absence of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, the ODI squad may lack experience in the bowling department. However, Inglis believes this presents a golden opportunity for young players to showcase their skills.

The ODI series will commence on June 9, with the second match scheduled for June 11 and the final match on June 14. All matches will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. Following the ODI series, both teams will compete in a three-match T20 series starting on June 17.

Australia’s squad for the ODI series against Bangladesh includes: Josh Inglis (Captain), Javier Bartlett, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Todd Murphy, Oliver Peirce, Matthew Renshaw, Liam Scott, Matt Short, and Adam Zampa.
