Ontario, July 24: Anahat Singh, India’s top-seeded player, has continued her impressive performance at the 2026 World Junior Individual Championship. She secured her place in the semifinals by defeating Egypt’s Habiba Rizk.
The world number 20 in the women’s category, Anahat triumphed over Habiba with scores of 11-7, 11-5, 6-11, and 11-9, making her the first Indian player to reach the semifinals in consecutive World Juniors. She is now considered a strong contender for the title.
In the semifinals, Anahat will face fellow Egyptian Barb Sameh. Meanwhile, Barb Sameh and Malika Elkaraksy advanced to the next round after defeating Hong Kong’s Helen Tang and Belgium’s Savannah Moxham in straight games. Egypt’s second-seeded player, Adam Haval, also delivered an outstanding performance, overcoming Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Alnasfan with a score of 3-1.
In the men’s category, Egypt’s Marwan Asal secured a spot in the semifinals after a tough match against France’s Amir Khalid-Jauselin. He will be joined by his compatriot, second-seeded Rukaya Salem, who won a thrilling five-game match against Malaysia’s Whitney Wilson. Additionally, Seifeldin Rafe (seeded 3/4) advanced by defeating Maddox Moxham in straight games. The British junior champion Rafe is set to face the number one seed, Mohammed Zakaria, in what promises to be an exciting match.
