Apple’s much-anticipated foldable iPhone may come at a higher price than its rival, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. A new leak has suggested that Apple’s first foldable smartphone — expected to launch in 2026 — could carry a significantly higher price tag, especially in the Chinese market. This device may debut almost seven years after Samsung introduced its first Galaxy Fold handset.

iPhone Fold Price Leak from China

According to a leak shared on Chinese platform Weibo by tipster Setsuna Digital, the foldable iPhone might start at CNY 15,999 (approx. Rs. 1,93,100) for the base model with 256GB storage. This is CNY 2,000 more than the starting price of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which recently launched at CNY 13,999 (around Rs. 1,69,000).

The higher-end models of the iPhone Fold could be priced at:

  • CNY 17,999 (around Rs. 2,17,200) for the 512GB variant

  • CNY 19,999 (around Rs. 2,41,400) for the 1TB model

In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 512GB and 1TB models are priced at CNY 14,999 (approx. Rs. 1,81,000) and CNY 17,499 (approx. Rs. 2,11,300), respectively. This means Apple’s 512GB foldable may cost more than Samsung’s 1TB version, if the leak proves accurate.

Limited Supply and Premium Margins Expected

Reports suggest that Apple could produce the iPhone Fold in limited quantities. The company is also likely to maintain high profit margins, keeping the device exclusive.

Rumored Hardware Details

Leaked specs hint at a crease-free inner display, reportedly manufactured by Samsung. The hinge and metal backplate may be produced by Fine M-Tec. The device is expected to run iOS 27, a customized version of Apple’s mobile OS tailored for foldable functionality.

Global Availability Still Unclear

It’s important to note that these leaked prices are specific to China. Pricing could vary in markets like South Korea, the US, or India. It’s also unknown whether Apple will limit the foldable iPhone’s release to select regions, similar to its strategy with the Apple Vision Pro.
