Andhra Pradesh Plans Electronics City Near Hindupur

Amaravati, March 13: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Thursday that the Andhra Pradesh government is considering a proposal to establish an Electronics City near Hindupur.

Naidu also revealed plans to create a Creative City in Amaravati aimed at promoting the creative economy, including content creators, AI, film, and other creative industries.

Addressing the District Collectors Conference, he mentioned that the government is developing the Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati regions under the Economic Region Development initiative.

The Chief Minister noted that Orvakal in Kurnool district has already been developed as an industrial cluster. With infrastructure like an airport, it is expected to evolve into a major industrial hub in the future. Similarly, the government plans to develop Kopparthi in Kadapa district as another industrial cluster.

According to an official release, he advised District Collectors to proactively attract investments to promote industries for wealth creation. He emphasized that collectors and ministers should not wait for investors to approach them. Instead, they should identify potential investors and reach out proactively.

Naidu suggested that meetings should be organized in districts to promote investment. He announced that the government would start ranking districts based on the ease of doing business.

He stated, “If a district cannot attract industries, then tourism, IT, MSMEs, or agriculture should be promoted based on the district’s strengths and advantages. The development strategy should be based on local strengths and opportunities.”

The Chief Minister urged collectors to focus on the amount of investment, job creation, and increases in per capita income in their districts. Their performance in promoting industries will be reviewed at the next Collectors Conference.

He also stressed the need to focus on infrastructure projects such as ports, airports, and railways.

Highlighting the potential in the hospitality sector, Naidu pointed out that there are numerous opportunities in Andhra Pradesh, which has granted industry status to tourism.

He mentioned that the state aims to create 50,000 hotel rooms across Andhra Pradesh while also promoting large-scale development of homestays.

Naidu noted that due to global conflicts, domestic tourism is expected to rise as people prefer local travel over international destinations. Some countries have successfully developed tourism in areas with minimal natural advantages, while Andhra Pradesh boasts many historical sites and pilgrimage destinations.

He emphasized the need to promote and develop old monuments and structures with rich historical value.
